According to the law, article 6 of the law of Ukraine "On fundamentals of national security of Ukraine" stipulates that among the priorities of national interests is the integration of Ukraine into the European political, economic, legal space with the aim of gaining membership in the European Union and in the Euro-Atlantic security space; development of mutually beneficial relations with other countries in the interests of Ukraine.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko congratulated the adoption of the Law of Ukraine "On amendments to some laws of Ukraine on Ukraine's refusal to implement the policy of non-alignment".
