In Ukraine there will be a new tradition - the coming of the New year will now notify the bells of St. Michael's Cathedral.

According to the Censor.NET, this was announced on his page in Facebook the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

"I am sincerely grateful to Michael's Golden-Domed monastery, there opened the door and defended students (during acceleration of Euromayday in November 2013. - Ed.). With great pleasure to start a new tradition - now New year to all Ukraine will always notify the bells of St. Michael's, the monks of which deserved such an honor," wrote the President.

Poroshenko also expressed his gratitude to the ringer of the monastery of John Sidor, who "hit the alarm, when the mad pursuers tried to break into the territory of the Church, to finish students: " He beat the bell so long and loud that on Mikhailovskaya square at night began to gather people. It was heard even on the Left Bank of the Dnieper.

"I am proud that our people in critical situations forget about personal safety and demonstrate a real Cossack character, charity and mutual aid," he said Poroshenko.
