Despite the decision of the US authorities on granting Ukraine guarantees on debt and a possible extra financial help, Kyiv, Ukraine still needs to supply arms to solve their problems.

This was stated by U.S. Senator John McCain, according to the Censor.NET with reference to RIA Novosti.

Previously, the U.S. Treasury announced that in 2015 will provide Ukraine guarantees for debt of 1 billion dollars and probably will ask Congress for additional $ 1 billion for this purpose in the second half of the year.

"You can't shoot people with dollars," said McCain, when asked about the decision of the U.S. Treasury to grant Ukraine guarantees on debt and additional assistance.

"The fact that they (the people of Ukraine. - Ed.) still don't have weapons that could not defend themselves," said the Senator. McCain added that Ukrainians need any financial assistance that you can get, but it will not solve the problem (in the country) until they regain control of their nation."

Recall, January 3, John McCain took the position of head of the Committee of the Armed forces of the Senate of the U.S. Congress. As previously reported, Senator John McCain said that the United States will return to the issue of arms supplies to Ukraine in January 2015.
