The president of Parliamentary Assembly of OSCE Ilkka Kanerva urged Russia to close the international borders with Ukraine to stop escalation of the conflict in East Ukraine.

About it it is said in the statement on the official site of OSCE, the Censor.NET with reference to Evropravda.

"I urge to close Russia borders to stop a stream of the weapon and military - volunteers or not - which can get on the East of Ukraine. The advanced arms used by terrorists in Ukraine do not appear from air", - it is told in the message .
Kanerva emphasized that when closing border it is necessary to consider a question of providing humanitarian aid to the civilian population injured with military operations.

"However, I will notice, according to the UN, awful attack on Mariupol was it is carried out from the territory, controllable to separatists, purposefully against the civilian population. Closing of border in itself can be the main form of humanitarian aid", - the president of OBSE.

Kanerva also described expansion of the conflict near Mariupol as "serious escalation" and approved the recent statement of representatives of 57 State Parties of OSCE in which they demand immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and full implementation of the Minsk agreements.
