Five high-ranking Russian army military play a key role in the organization of the separatist movement in Eastern Ukraine. This information is published in the dossier of the Ukrainian special services, presented to the President of the United States.
Senior officials of the Ukrainian intelligence shared information with the White house, State Department and U.S. intelligence agencies. The document reports on five Russian generals and one Colonel, who direct the actions of the so-called “rebels”.
The dossier reports that major General Oleg Moscovich Tsekov is headed by two brigades of the LC. Major General Valery Solodchuk commanded the first army corps armed separatist forces in Donetsk. General-major Sergey Kuzovlev coordinates the provision of regular Russian troops in Luhansk region. General-major Alexey Vladimirovich Savision controls the conduct of Russian military operations in the Donetsk region. Major General Roman A. Shadrin Minister of state security in the LC. Colonel Anatoly Konstantinovich Barankevich, the former defense Minister of the unrecognized Republic of South Ossetia, serves as adviser for the combat readiness of the LC.
The White house said that information about high-ranking military from the Russian Federation and their activities in Ukraine correspond to information from the American intelligence. Representatives of the U.S. intelligence noted the importance of identification of Russian generals fighting in the Donbass.
“So far you've seen Russian lieutenants, captains and majors in Ukraine. But now obvious was the introduction of the senior officers of the Russian army to command the forces of the separatists,” – said the expert of the Russian security services at new York University's mark Galeotti.
The expert argues that the introduction of officers in the ranks of separatists suggests that Moscow is trying to establish a permanent control over the militia of Donbass, which is necessary in a situation of long-term frozen conflict.
American analysts suggest that Russia has deployed in Donbas small military contingent on legal grounds. It's Russian joint center for control and coordination of the Minsk agreements, led by Lieutenant-General Alexander Ivanovich Lentsov. In the dossier it is reported that he was involved in the command of the separatists.
“Moscow says that the General Lentsov is responsible for the organization and command of the Russian armies of the United center, but it's possible that he and his staff maintain contacts with other commanders in Eastern Ukraine”, – said the expert on Eurasia Hannah Thoburn.
A 30-page dossier details about Russian soldiers detained in Ukraine. The report States that in Ukraine are Rossiiskie tanks, armoured personnel carriers and anti-aircraft missile system similar to the one that brought down Malaysian flight MH-17 last year. According to the Ukrainian intelligence throughout the country a large number about 9,000 soldiers of the regular Russian army, organized in 15 battalion tactical groups. These data are not officially confirmed, the Russian Embassy in Washington from commenting on the matter refused. The Kremlin does not get tired to deny that Russian troops have nothing to do with military operations inside Ukraine.
