The Ministry of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine declares the readiness of Ukraine to ensure food security of Turkey in the case of export restrictions from Russia.
According to the Цензор.НЕТ, about this on his page in Facebook wrote the Minister of agrarian policy and food Alex Pavlenko.
“If the traditional partners of Turkey will apply sanctions, that is, cease to supply grain, Ukraine is ready to increase supplies of grain, corn and oil at least twice. Turkey's long-standing and reliable partner of Ukraine, we are ready to act as a guarantor of food security of this country,” wrote the Minister.
He noted that thus Ukraine will be able to replace Russia on the Turkish market. “Whatever the decision of the Russian side, it should not affect the food security of Turkey”, – said Pavlenko.
He added that Ukraine has enough of the goods of appropriate quality, to meet the needs of Turkish consumers in the case of the introduction of export restrictions from Russia. “For 10 months of 2015 Ukraine has already exported to Turkey of agricultural products worth nearly $ 566 million, among which grains of more than $ 55 million and oil – in the amount of almost 75 million,” wrote the Minister.
Pavlenko noted that in the case of the introduction of Russian food embargo against Turkey Ukraine may significantly increase these figures by an additional supply of wheat, corn, barley, pulses and vegetable oil. “Of course, at the moment, too early to talk about changes in the trade turnover between Turkey and Ukraine, but we are ready to deepen bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector”, – said the Minister.
He added that the expansion and diversification of the export market remains a priority for Ukraine, but Turkey is a promising trading partner.
Pavlenko noted that agricultural enterprises as of November 27, collected 59.7 million tons of grain. As of 18 November Ukraine exported grain and prepared to export the volumes at 15.6 million tons since the beginning of the 2015/2016 marketing year (July 2015 – June 2016). Ukrainian agricultural producers sold their products in 190 countries.
