January 29, 2015 near the village of Steep in Chernihiv region held a solemn meeting-Requiem in memory of the heroism of Ukrainian students who died in battle with the Bolsheviks.

On this day in 1918, at the railway station of Kruty in Chernihiv region 300 Kiev students, defending the approaches to Kiev, entered into an unequal battle with a six-thousandth army of the Bolsheviks under the command of Mikhail Muravev, who among others led the offensive on the Ukrainian National Republic.

The exact number of dead students is not recorded anywhere officially. According to the testimony of participants in the events, were killed more than 250 people from the Ukrainian side. Famous names only 27 students, who were captured and shot. Later their bodies were solemnly reburied at Askold's grave in Kiev.

In 2006 the station Cool opened the memorial to the heroes of Kruty (S. Commemorative Borzna district). Its main element is a 10 metre red column copy columns of the facade of the red building of Kiev national University.T.Shevchenko, where there was a majority of students immortalized heroes. January 29, 2016 in the territory of the Memorial complex "to the Memory of Kruty Heroes" will take place the meeting-Requiem on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of battle near Kruty (beginning at 11:00). Planned laying flowers to memorial, funeral Liturgy in memory of the fallen for the homeland, a literary-artistic composition dedicated to the memory of Kruty Heroes. One of the main leitmotifs of the current celebrations will be honouring the memory of soldiers ATO killed in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Indeed, until recently, few could imagine that after almost 100 years, Ukraine will again have to fight for the territorial integrity of the state and to repel Russian aggression.

The event is organized by Chernihiv regional state administration. The participants will be able to see the exhibition of the memorial and exhibition of the exhibits of the National military historical Museum of Ukraine in the staff car.
