The war in the Donbas — it is a punishment for godlessness and other sins, the Head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kyiv Patriarchate Patriarch Philaret. According to him, the Russian aggressor for the invasion of Ukraine will be punished by God as it happened with Nazi Germany.
In an interview with "Апострофу" Bishop Filaret said that because of the war hundreds of thousands of believers today are switching from the Moscow Patriarchate in Kiev. According to the Primate of the UOC-KP, these people are disappointed that the UOC-MP supports Russia.
About the war in the Donbass and the punishment for sin
Today, people suffer more in the East of Ukraine, not the West. Why? Because there are atheists much more than in the West. If they do not repent and turn to God, and suffering will continue as it takes and brings suffering the disease, if not treated. It is home to the so-called proletariat, the people who were brought up in atheism and that atheism is stored. The temples build in the East, especially the Donbass, built many churches, but in churches people don't go, don't live according to the law of God. In the Donbas lived and 7.5 million, it would seem that all the churches should be filled, but they are almost empty. People should turn to God, and the Lord will change everything instantly.
Don't want to say that on Donbass all atheists, and the West — all believers. No! But the experience and sociological polls show that in the East of atheists more than believers. And you suffer for it all. As in the Soviet Union due to the militant atheism that was imposed by authorities, suffered by the entire nation. I know this from experience, because I was born and raised in the Donbass. And in my childhood was the same. But when the war came (against Nazi Germany, — "the Apostrophe"), then through suffering, many turned to God, the temples opened, people asked for help and the Lord helped to repel the aggression and defeat in the war.
Because Hitler was the perpetrator, the aggressor, but the Lord has let the aggressor have captured nearly a third of the Soviet Union. So the Lord allowed the Jewish people went into Babylonian captivity. The Assyrians defeated the Jews when the latter rejected the true God and began to worship idols... So Hitler and God is allowed to bring grave suffering to our peoples, but when people began to regret, had helped Hitler to win. And now God allowed the aggressor in Crimea. And in Crimea, people now live much worse than they lived when they were part of Ukraine. God allowed the aggressor — Russia — to go to the Donbas, where the aggressor has killed and is killing people. The whole world is witness of how from Russia were delivered a terrible weapon to destroy people – "Grada", "Tornadoes", "Hurricanes". But the aggressor and that the Lord will punish, as God ordered for the aggression Germany. Hitler shot himself, Germany was divided, suffered after the Second world war, had suffered ... So the Lord and that the Russian aggressor at the time will also be punished, because sin can not go unpunished.

Why is the Ecumenical Patriarch still did not recognize the UOC-KP
The Ecumenical Patriarch is afraid to not split the Ecumenical Orthodoxy, because Moscow is threatening separation if the us officially recognizes Constantinople. But it's already split! The Ukrainian Church (the UOC-KP, — "Apostrophe"), Macedonian, Montenegrin, American — it's four churches, which are still not recognized as Autocephalous. And Kyiv Patriarchate— more today than each of the recognized Autocephalous churches except the Moscow Patriarchate. In Ukraine, the UOC-KP about 20 million believers, and is the largest Church after the Russian — Romanian. While in Romania, only 20 million inhabitants.
War continues in Eastern Ukraine, urges believers of the Moscow Patriarchate moves to the Kyivan Patriarchate and the Kyiv Patriarchate is growing. Believers leave the Moscow Patriarchate, because disappointed that this Church supports Russia, not Ukraine. About reforms in society and overcoming corruption
After the Maidan the people expected better and I expected better. I was expecting to start the real reforms in Ukraine. I mean the reform of the judicial system, Prosecutor's office, the Verkhovna Rada, of all structures of Ukrainian government. If these reforms? Happen, but so slowly that they do not satisfy those who were on the Maidan. They will not satisfy the Ukrainian society. Prices rise but salaries remain the same. Quality of life deteriorated, because reform does not occur as it should, continues to exist corruption, but added to this is an undeclared war in the East, which has a negative impact on the economy.
Corruption is a big drawback of Ukrainian society. There are many sin city, but corruption in Ukrainian society is the biggest obstacle to joining the European Union, and to God the corruption is a great sin. Therefore, we must repent of this sin and to reform those involved in corruption. And, as I said, unrepentant sin will surely be punished. And the one who has more power in his hands, but uses this power not to serve the people, not to assert the truth, and for their own enrichment — and will be punished more. For the Lord hath said, and His word is immutable truth, "to Whom much is given, much is required".
