The idea of building the "Russian world" in the post-Soviet space has failed due to the fact that the Ukrainian people resisted the plans of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

And tempting as it all began: he took Crimea without a single shot. It looked like a miracle that even Suvorov was not possible. And then everything fell down", - said Voinovich.

"And then suddenly everything began to deflate. On TV, analysts, presidents of any strategic funds has persuaded people that two hours from Kiev. But this did not happen and could not happen. Putin did not expect such resistance of the Ukrainian people. He quickly realized that losing the war. And lost. Passed and the new Russia, and Russian world with her. Putin is not only Ukraine had in mind as part of the Russian world, but also Belarus and Kazakhstan. But it did not come. In Eastern Ukraine, Russia has been militarily defeated in the struggle for the Russian world. Moreover, it soon became clear that Russian world is in no hurry to embrace Russia - neither in Ukraine nor anywhere else," said the writer.

"Our people, unfortunately, tends to take pride in the fact that we are such a "powerful" country, and all of us I'm afraid. They might not like in the past the Soviet government, but in a sense, the sense of belonging to this great country even they were hatched. And now they have experienced some kind of emotional revenge. But this will not last long. All collapses again. In Crimea there is no progress. The dream of new Russia as a revived Soviet Union went awry. Russian peace was a Chimera. Eastern Ukraine will soon return. Even Syria had to go. And now many comes disappointment," said the writer.

"I think we're on the verge of a big disappointment. The questions arise: what killed so many people, for what purpose? The hangover is coming", he added.

"After the military failure in Ukraine, Russia cannot allow itself to be at war with Turkey. She will lose this war. And Putin himself understands it. And he needed only victory. And at the same light. As in the Crimea", - said the writer.

"I repeat once again: the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people. Ukrainians were far more passionate people than the Russians. Putin realized that he has no even chance to take over the Donbass, the Ukrainians will resist fiercely on each segment of their land", - stressed the writer.
