He added that the official announcement will make on Wednesday by the European Commissioner for migration, home Affairs and citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos.
"Today, we are following our obligations, offered a short-term visa-free travel to the EU for Ukrainian citizens with biometric passports to facilitate people to people contacts, business development, and social and cultural relations between the EU and Ukraine", - said the Commissioner.
He stressed that this was a result of the success of the government of Ukraine in carrying out far-reaching and complex reforms in the field of justice and internal Affairs, the judiciary and the rule of law.
"I am very pleased with this progress as an important achievement of Ukrainian citizens. And I hope that the European Parliament and the EU Council will take these proposals very soon," stressed Avramopoulos.
In the proposal of the European Commission also notes that it previously submitted an updated factual analysis and statistics on the possible effects of liberalization of the visa regime with Ukraine in the context of migration and security, and additional assessment of this issue is not necessary. Also evrokomissii does not impose any additional requirements to Ukraine.
According to the procedure, the proposal of the European Commission, must undergo a long procedure of harmonization between member countries of the European Union, and European Parliament. This procedure takes at least one month. After that, it must be approved by the EU Council on justice, freedom and security, which meets once a quarter.
As explained in the European Commission, once these deals are approved in the European Parliament and of the Council of the EU, Ukrainian citizens who have passports with biometric data, will be able to stay without visas in the Schengen zone up to 90 days.
