The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko made an appeal to the proposal by the European Commission to abolish visas for Ukrainians.
About it reports пресс-служба Главы государства, reports «GLORY TO UKRAINE»ICF
The appeal says: "Today, from Brussels came the long-awaited news. The President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker has informed me of the submission to the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament a legislative proposal to introduce visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens.
For me personally, it's been a long road hard diplomatic and political work. Remember every step, every decision, almost every letter in the visa-free legislation.
And we implemented the plan, which contained almost 140 conditions. The most important of which relate to new and efficient system of security and the fight against corruption. In particular, all anti-corruption laws adopted as one of conditions of cancellation of visas.
Visa-free travel was my commitment to you. Mark "done" will be put in a few months. On the way to this decision we have undertaken reforms that have transformed the country. The EU appreciates and supports our reforms.
On behalf of the Ukrainian people, I would like to thank the European Commission for this decision, which brings us closer together with the common European family.
And for joint work on visa-free regime thank the Verkhovna Rada, the Government, diplomats and, of course, civil society.
When together - we win. Glory To Ukraine! Glory To Europe!"
