Since the spring of 2014, Zabrodsky participated in an anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. During the ATO, the 95th airborne brigade commanded by Zabrodsky carried out the task of blocking the cities of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, seized and retained an important stronghold - Mount Karachun.
In the summer of 2014, the 95th Brigade under his command raided the enemy's rear. For two weeks, performing combat missions, the Zabrodsky brigade was 470 km from Slavyansk to Mariupol, then along the Russian-Ukrainian border, and through Lugansk returned to Slavyansk. According to the American expert Philippe Karber (Phillip A. Karber) this was the longest raid of an armed formation in the latest military history.
